The Blankney Estate is one Britain’s oldest farming Estates, with mention in the Domesday Book of 1068.

Over the course of history, the Estate has had a number of owners and custodians – sometimes a result of political and religious uprisings and other times due to economic downturns and the devastating impact of death duties.

Amongst all of these changes, one thing has remained consistent – Blankney’s effortless portrayal of class.

With its vast farmlands, traditional Lincolnshire limestone cottages, the historic Blankney Hall Stables, the active golf and cricket clubs, the gothic St Oswald’s Church, Blankney Kennels, ancient woodlands, the list goes on.

And of course, no stranger to Royal visits – the former Blankney Hall was a firm favourite of Kings and aristocrats for its discrete location – famously King Edward VII, a close personal friend of former Estate custodian Henry Chaplin, 1st Viscount Chaplin of St Oswald’s, Blankney.

Chaplin, who was no stranger to the colourful lifestyle enjoyed by many in the upper-class during the Victorian Era, was himself embroiled in an infamous escapade which became known as The Pocket Venus Scandal – a story born right here at Blankney…
