Blankney Farm Update – 2 May 2025
The weather continues to be the ‘hot topic’!
We only recorded 16.8mm of rain in March and April – the lowest rainfall we’ve had since records began at this site in 1948!
Farm operations have been good, with seed beds prepared well and crops establishing into moisture in a timely manner.
We started irrigating grass in mid April to ensure a reasonable 1st cut at the right quality, for our Chlorophyll business. We continue to irrigate.
Maize establishment will finish next week and we will irrigate the maize on our heavier soils, that has now immerged; this is to make sure there is no check to its growth.
Hopefully this task will make sure it rains…
