Blankney Farm Update – 10 February 2020

We have now completed 94% of our Sugar Beet harvest, with just 6% to go; this will finish our 2019 growing season. We are now only 8 weeks away from harvesting grass, which will be our first harvest of the coming season.

Yields remain excellent at 85 and a half tonnes per hectare. We have only managed to drill 60% of our normal wheat area and it is now too late to drill the crop any further, as it requires a period of vernalisation, which is not guaranteed after the 10 February.

We continue to drill Spring Barley and we are now spreading manure from the AD Plant, prior to the establishment of our forage crops.
