Blankney Farm Update – 2 April 2019

We’ve had an early start to Spring this year due to the favourable weather conditions, which has proven so far to be quite benign to our crops. Most recently, the farm have been busy drilling beans for human consumption; once harvested, we expect a lot of these to eventually make their way to Egpyt!

Our Spring Barley is all in the ground and we are now hoping for good growing conditions and some much needed rain, to allow for a good crop of malting barley to develop; this will hopefully end up with Coors, to be produced as malt and subsequent beer.

Our Sugar Beet crop has also been drilled this week. All of this went into good seed beds and will remain in the fields until next year, when they will be harvested and sent to the sugar factory in Newark.
