Blankney Farm Update – 30 April 2019
Hot weather over Easter was welcomed by all, apart from our crops, which struggled in the heat with little soil moisture – since then, conditions have remained dry, causing concern, and the fear of drought is occupying all of our minds. We keep looking for an online forcast which shows rain! As a result, we are now irrigating our grass leys to ensure a second cut for the crop drying business.
Maize drilling is nearing completion, which completes all of our crop establishment. All we need now is 12 more weeks of adequate rain and warm temperatures to ensure a good crop and produce which fills all of our stores.
