Blankney Farm Update – 7 July 2023

This week, we have completed our forage rye harvest – which is providing very similar results to our winter barley harvest; yields are around 7% above our five year average.

We’ve also been busy harvesting grass for British Chlorophyll and timothy and lucerne for horse feeds. This year, the quality of our forage crops has been excellent…happy horses!

In other news, we have planted a field of nettles this week (yes nettles!).

These have gone in very well and will be dried in our crop drying plant for specialist feed additive useage. We believe this is the first nettle field to be commercially grown in Lincolnshire.
